Under the law, God requires righteousness from man. Under grace, He gives righteous to man from Jesus.

The law points our weaknesses and our need for a Savior.

28 Then they said to Him, "What shall we do, that we may work the works of God'" 29 Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."

Those who sin are opposed to the law of God, for all sin opposes the law of God.

Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.'

5 But he was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace. He was whipped, and we were healed! 6 All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God's paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the guilt and sins of us all.
